Avanspettacolo: a theatrical genre that developed in Italy between the 1930s and 1950s. It features a diverse mixture of music, ballet, sketch comedy, and other forms of art. Emerged during the Fascist era, with the introduction of laws granting tax relief advantages to theatres that would play movies, theatre companies were forced to devise a light form of show that could be performed on stage for the audience before the movie.
